Countries Visited - Overview

Country Overview

The drop down pages contain facts about each country visited; in the case of South Africa, three times and Botswana twice.

The following were visited, in order:

South Africa; Botswana; Zambia; Tanzania & Zanzibar; Malawi; Mozambique; Swaziland (now eSwatini); South Africa; Zimbabwe; Botswana; Namibia; South Africa

Each page contains an overview of the country at the time of the visit; our route and campsites/accommodation with coordinates; links to our reflections on the country and our diary; plus a selection of images.

Back in 1993 we had visited The Gambia and really enjoyed it, so much so that we booked to return the following year. The country was said to be the most stable African country ... until 2 weeks before our second visit when there was an attempted military coup - we ended up in Kenya.

It did teach us that many of the African nations can be politically and culturally unpredictable and our outline itinerary would of necessity be very flexible to cater for any emergencies and troubles - there were none.
